Partypoker’s Micro Series Commences Amongst Sale Rumours

Partypoker’s Status
Earlier this month, rumours about Entain gearing up to sell partypoker started running amok. Poker experts are examining this news from every angle since Sky News’ report of the company hiring financial consultants for the sale.
These reports came together with Entain's move to dedicate more resources to BetMGM. Many saw it as the logical next step. Experts believe partypoker will fetch $191.8 million (£150 million) with its sale. Players worldwide are waiting in suspense for official news.
The Poker Room’s Journey
Partypoker once stood at the top of the poker world, having over 8,000 concurrent cash game players on a 30-day average. In 2006, the poker room set an example by withdrawing from the market when the US enacted UIGEA.
Further, the room’s influence has dwindled in recent years following regulatory changes and lower guarantees. Today, the room averages slightly over 600 players on a 30-day cash game traffic.
Micro Series
Many players were happy to see that rumours of its sale won’t hold partypoker back. The poker room is pushing forth with its Micro Series, which will run from March 24th to April 7th.
Format
There will be 60 numbered events in this series, offering a total guarantee of more than $550,000. Most of the events fall within Turbo and Hyper tournaments, with six tournaments being championship events.
Other games will be variations of progressive knockouts (PKO), like Superstacks, Shortstacks, Ultra PKO, and Deepstacks.
Buy-ins
As you’d expect from a series with Micro in its name, the buy-in is low, starting at 11 cents and going up to $22. There are three buy-in tiers, meaning there are 180 events overall, as each of the 60 numbered events gets three levels.
Highlights
There are three Main Events, set at low, medium, and high buy-ins:
- Low: $2,500 Main Event with a $1.10 buy-in
- Medium: $15,000 Main Event with a $5.50 buy-in
- High: $50,000 Main Event with a $22 buy-in
The six championship tournaments also have guarantees between $7,500 and $10,000. However, the buy-in remains static at $5.50 for each event.
Entry to MILLIONS Tournament
The series Finale will award over $10,000 worth of the $500k MILLIONS online tickets. For the final table players of the Main Events and six Championships, entry into the series Finale is guaranteed.
The Future of Partypoker
While the continuation of partypoker’s tournaments shows the brand is still standing strong, we can’t help but wonder. The room’s social media has been quiet since the start of this year. Further, despite the Micro Series starting soon, there’s been no official announcement of this series.
