SuperStar Showdown: KidPoker Strikes Back

<strong>Daniel Negreanu</strong> won the latest instalment of the <em>SuperStar Showdown</em> on Sunday, March 27. Although it seemed for long V<strong>iktor <em>&lsquo;Isildur1&rsquo; </em>Blom</strong> would once again annihilate him, the Canadian pro managed to crawl back and eventually win with a profit of $26,500.

As you may have read here, Isildur1 never gave a chance for Daniel Negreanu on March 20, on their first clash in the SuperStar Showdown promotion: he won KidPoker’s entire $150,000 challenge bankroll in just a matter of 1,439 hands. The rematch took place yesterday, and it was a narrow escape for Negreanu from being knocked out prematurely once again.

The two PokerStars Pros started playing on four $50/$100 NLHE tables with a $150,000 challenge bankroll each (the Showdown lasts for 2,500 hands or until one of the opponents loses their bankroll). Isildur1 had a lead of $28,000 after a mere 350 hands and he did not seem like slowing down, taking all the major pots for the next 1,000 hands or so. After 1,279 hands, Negreanu was down $119,600.

At this point Negreanu himself could not have possibly thought that he could win the match, but in only a couple of minutes, he first doubled up with higher two pairs on Table 2, then on Table 5 with getting an ace to his {#}A {#}8 hand against Isildur1’s nines. He won another all-in on Table 1 when he called Blom’s 5-bet all-in on {#}J {#}T with pocket queens; the pot was $30,400.

Following a short break, Negreanu took a huge pot again; after calling his preflop 4-bet, Isildur1 went all-in with $55,700 on the {#}T {#}9 {#}4 board. The Canadian called with $9,550 and pocket kings and won against Blom’s {#}9 {#}7 on the neutral turn and river.

Negreanu kept being dealt premium hands and he soon came back to even, but Isildur1 once again managed to be up $50,000 against him. The finish was, however, Negreanu’s: in one of the last hands, he called Isildur1’s all-in on {#}A {#}2 with {#}A {#}Q on the {#}Q {#}4 {#}3 flop, and with the turn and river not changing the picture, he was ahead $20,000. He eventually profited $26,500 and won the Showdown:

Isildur1: gg, nice comeback!
KidPoker: I won? wow sick! gg man thanks
KidPoker: I broke so much stuff in this room the first half
KidPoker: my assistant has lots of cleaning to do lol jkjk

It seems the next SuperStar Showdown takes place on April 3, which will be the first of another two-part 5,000-hands clash, this time between Isildur1 and high stakes pro Scott ‘urnotindangr’ Palmer.
