Rake being the fee that is taken by a poker operator in cash games, at the point of the winning of a pot. Before the 5th January Ladbrokes Poker calculated its rake payout on an average system (dealt method), were players got equal amount of percentages for their gameplay, even if they were not contributing to the pot. However through these new changes now, players will only receive rake in accordance to the amount they contribute to the pot (weighted contributed method).
Ladbrokes Poker's reason for the rake allocation change was to seek a fairer system, with their official announcement stating “This change (taking place across the whole Microgaming Poker Network) will be a fairer way to reward players and give credit to those who actually deserve it”. In course time, Ladbrokes Poker is ultimately looking to discourage tight players, to fill its tables with more fish and loose players.
This change shows to be in favor for the better for all players, excluding the tight players who are often only after easy rakeback. With iPoker Network also jumping on the bandwagon, changing their rake calculation method on January 2, the year 2010 might just be the year, to see the death of the dealt rake calculation system at the network based poker rooms.
Besides Ladbrokes Poker, Unibet which is also part of the (Microgaming Poker Network) will as well come under these new changes.

There is nothing more annoying than have good hand dealt, feeling the pots money just within your grasp and then have multiple players fold. Maybe there is a just a slight chance, that these changes, will have an effect, to cause less folds and more game play. :-)
