San Francisco based Zynga acquired its fame as developer of several of the most popular Facebook applications, including Farmville, Mafia Wars and Texas Hold’em Poker. They have more users than online poker giant PokerStars.
Rumours have long had it that Zynga is to join the real money poker industry and they keep a close eye on the poker legalisation process in the US. These rumours now seem to have an even solider basis, as Techcrunch reports that Zynga contracted MarketZero, operator of PokerTableRatings (PTR). The task of MarketZero is to develop new, more advanced features for Zynga’s poker software, which might as well contribute to the preparations of a real money online poker room.
It is important to note that the contract does not affect PTR in any way; it remains an operation of MarketZero.
High stakes play money action at Zynga
Zynga has been extremely active in the gaming software market; they have practically bought or signed contracts with a company each month lately. Among others, NewToy (Texas), XPD (Beijing), Unoh Games (Tokyo), Conduit Labs (Boston) and Challenge Games (Austin) have recently become Zynga property.
