There is no authoritative statements what caused the surge in gambling income, but it seems to be in connection with the recent developments in the Asian market. The area starts to take up an increasingly important role in online poker in the post-Black Friday period. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) compiled a simililar statement in 2011, which investigated not only online poker, but the whole of online gambling. According to the survey, a 9,2% growth is expected between 2012 and 2015.
The Asian market holds an enormous potential. As AsianLogic Limited's founder, a well-known figure of the Macau high stakes cash games, Tom Hall stated not long ago that online poker in Asia is still in its early stage, and most countries in the area are very far from legislation.
BBC produced a 6-minute documentary on the three major participants of live gambling: Las Vegas, Singapore and Macau. The report investigated the fact that gamblers' attention is increasingly drawn by the Asian continent. Las Vegas has reached its peak, but Singapore and Macau is in constant and fast development. After just two years of its opening, Singapore could produce a revenue of $6 billion in 2011, with which the country is now second in earnings, overtaking Las Vegas.
