If it was not serious enough blow to the GSN show HSP that FTP considers not to let its pros participate, two of the remaining “draw” names, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth are now also uncertain at best to show up before the cameras. The former has just finished 9th in the APPT Sydney main event and has tweeted the following recently: "Sad news: at airport headed home which means the trip is over :-( have a commercial shoot when I land which means no HSP for me this year."
With Negreanu certainly, as well as Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen and Mike Matusow probably missing, the Poker Brat might still be able to make a show, although he announced he was “fifty-fifty” to participate. No word has surfaced as yet regarding Doyle Brunson, making David ‘Viffer’ Peat be the only one explicitly wishing to take part, although he is currently recovering from illness.
Perhaps it is time they brought in new faces but this is not necessarily a safe move from a strictly business point of view.
