Senator Harry Reid
Many in the poker community believe that the fact online poker has emerged as a central topic of discussion, as shown by this meeting as well, is due to the constant and aggressive campaign by the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) that also used social media to raise support for the cause of online poker legalisation in the US. “This has helped ensure that our elected representatives understand that the American people demand this liberty,” PPA VP of Player Relations Rich Muny said.
Reid himself is against online gaming except for poker in which he sees the opportunity of the creation of “jobs, and lots of jobs.” With the legislation being backed by brick-and-mortar casinos as well, Reid’s support of the issue could get it “attached to President Obama’s job bill, allowing for the best chance of passage by year’s end,” as Gambling911.com reports.
Below is the video coverage of yesterday’s Twitter Town Hall with Senator Harry Reid. Pokerwise, of particular interest is the part between 9:57 and 10:53.
