“I always have high expectations for the World Series but this year felt different. In the last seven months I’ve made three final tables in pretty major events so I came into this WSOP with my confidence at an all-time high,” she commented.
Ho finished in 6th place in October, 2010 in the WSOP Circuit South Africa Main Event which was worth $43,000 and later, in January, 2011, she earned $70,000 for a second finish in the Eight-Game Event of the single biggest Australian poker tournament, the Aussie Millions.
“I felt like I was unstoppable. After I took second place I was back playing the next day at noon and I was playing with this confidence that I’ve never had before,” Ho said.
Maria Ho finished ITM for the ninth time in a world championship in her career, which was also the second this year alone. It also set up a new record: it is the greatest WSOP prize ever won by a female.
“Whether or not I have that bracelet on my wrist I think I’ve done a lot of things in poker I can be proud of (…). Through all the ups and downs in the poker world I’ve managed to stay in the game and I’ve still got a long career to look forward to.”
