Esfandiari, Trickett and Merson Top 2012 Live HS Money List

Big One winner Antonio Esfandiari unquestionably dominated the 2012 live high stakes money list with $19 million worth of profits. Down on the Earth, Sam Trickett and Greg Merson follow.

The live tournament money list is compiled every year by the Hendon Mob and 2012 was undoubtedly Antonio Esfandiari’s year. The Magician secured his dominating position in summer by winning the WSOP $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop event for $18,346,673.

Esfandiari also won the WSOPE €1,000 NLHE event for $164,656, finished 3rd in the WSOP $3,000 NLHE Shootout for $151,613 and 4th in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $329,339. He reached ITM finishes in a total of nine events in 2012 for a total profit of $19,078,808.

Big One runner-up Sam Trickett also follows Esfandiari in the annual compilation, progressing from his 5th place in 2011. The British pro won a total of $11,166,185, out of which $10,112,001 comes from his Big One finish. He ran in 7th in the Macau High Stakes Challenge $258,000 Super High Roller for $999,184 and made a total of three ITMs in 2012.

While Greg Merson took down the world champion’s title, he came in “only” 3rd on the money list. In addition for his WSOP $10,000 Main Event victory for $8,531,853, he also won the WSOP $10,000 NLHE Six Handed event for $1,136,197, next to another two WSOP ITM finishes for a total of $9,755,180 in profits.

4th on the money list is Macau High Stakes Challenge $258,000 Super High Roller champion Stanley Choi with $6,465,560, followed by WSOP Main Event runner-up Jesse Sylvia with $5,302,177 and WSOPE Main Event winner Phil Hellmuth with $4,394,824.
