Phil Ivey
Ivey currently leads the WSOP Player of the Year contest with 383.55 points. Considering that he is likely to keep running for his 9th bracelet in the remaining events, a handful of higher finishes might be just enough for him to maintain his position.
The current Top 10 players are as follows:
1st Phil Ivey: 383.55 points
2nd Andrew Frankenberger: 372.16
3rd John Monnette: 319.50
4th Brian Hastings: 303.00
5th Ashkan Razavi: 274.06
6th Aubin Cazals: 251.00
7th Michael Gathy: 250.00
8th Clifford Goldkind: 240.00
9th Phil Hellmuth: 240.00
10th Simon Charette: 237.50
In 2nd position stands a heavily criticised Andrew Frankenberger, primarily for his $10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em victory, while $5,000 Seven Card Stud champion John Monnette is 3rd. A number of other big guns can also be found among the top finishers, for instance the holder of the most WSOP bracelets ever, $2,500 Seven-Card Razz winner and 12 times champion Phil Hellmuth.
Since many of the best players of the industry only start now to hit the felts seriously, some fluctuation is easily expectable. However, if the current top players keep running as they do now, a POY title winner is likely to already be on this list.
