The Finnish player started his online poker career under the ‘FinddaGrind’ screen name. In the beginning, he played tournaments but switched his focus to cash games in 2005. Soon, he was already grinding on the highest stakes: in 2007, he profited $1,794,245 in 25,759 hands and in the first half of 2008, he won $547,382 in 14,769 hands.
In the 2008 season, Antonius was signed by FTP as a team pro and he carried on under his ‘Patrik Antonius’ nick. He also continued to win steadily, making a profit of $1,346,820 in 103,928 hands in the second part of the same year. He won an incredible $8,973,946 in 185,440 hands in2009, $358,966 in 165,338 hands in 2010 and $1,157,800 in 31,765 hands in 2011. Of course, his latest season got interrupted by Black Friday and the closure of FTP.
In 2009, Antonius won the biggest online cash game pot of all time:
Many believe that Antonius started to play on PokerStars, following the closure of FTP, but it has never been proven. The Finn pro was assumed to play the ‘Fake Love888’ account, which was created in 2007 but was not active until September, 2011. At that point, ‘Fake Love888’ started to play the highest stakes and he proved to be a skilled player, too, knowing his way in PLO, NLHE, LHE, HORSE as well as draw games. Moreover, the ‘Fake Love888’ account was used from an IP address in Monaco, which was known to be Antonius’ home at the time. At any rate, ‘Fake Love888’ was not very successful, losing a total of $1,554,563 in 59,523 hands from September, 2011 through today.
With the re-opening of FTP, the room became the host of most of the greatest online high stakes action once again. Antonius, of course, had to join in as well, especially considering his fortune stuck on his account, which enabled him to resume playing with a comforting bankroll. In January this year, he played his first sessions but at first, he did not do well, losing $521,983 in 13,546 hands as of mid-February.
Since Antonius was no longer considered a FTP Pro, he was asked not to use his own name but his former nick, ‘FinddaGrind’. Antonius agreed and started to run hot. Of course, his performance is not related to his screen name but apparently, he needed some time to get the beat of the action right again. In the second half of February, he decreased his losses with $260,997 in 13,966 hands; in March, however, he truly fired the engines, winning $1,769,775 in exactly 5,000 hands. This made him runner-up on the monthly online high stakes money list. In April so far, he is up $331,331 in 6,494 hands.
Antonius’ ‘FinddaGrind’ account is currently placed 3rd on the annual online high stakes money list with $2,362,103 in profits and 25,460 hands played. Subtracting his losses under his ‘Patrik Antonius’ account from that leaves him with a total of $1,840,120 in winnings, enough for a 6th finish on the same list.
Among the FTP big shots, Antonius has been outperforming his fellows by far since the re-launch of the room: Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan is up $1,104,689 this year but Phil ‘Polarizing’ Ivey and Gus Hansen are among the biggest losers with -$1,606,502 in 46,684 hands and -$2,682,717 in 59,532 hands, respectively.
Antonius’s total online high stakes profit, tracked by HSDB, is $16 million, $11,315,548 of which being won under his own name and $4,703,730 under the ‘FinddaGrind’ account.
