Tran had had no existing affiliation with any poker site, so it could be expected one would sign him as a pro team member to wear their badges at the Final Table. 888Poker consequently announced on Monday that they had signed the contract with Tran, who would represent the room not only in the WSOP Main Event finale but also at WSOPE in October in Paris and at WPT festivals.
"I am extremely excited to work with 888poker and looking forward to a great experience. I can't wait to represent 888poker at my best and help in any way possible," Tran commented the announcement.
"We are excited to have JC Tran join our Team 888poker, his attitude towards the game and inviting personality embodies what we look for in our Team ambassadors. This year Team 888poker will be at its strongest and should bring some exciting content and opportunities to our continuously growing poker room. Good luck to Tran and the rest of our Team," 888Poker Vice President Inbal Lavi said.
There will be two more 888Poker pros representing the room at the Final Table, Jay Farber and Michiel Brummelhuis.
Tran has so far won two WSOP and one WPT titles and is also an online world champion, winning the WCOOP Main Event in 2006. He can become the first player ever in poker history to take down both the live and online world championship titles.
888Poker currently occupies the fourth position in the traffic ranking of online poker rooms and networks. According to PokerScout, last week saw an average of 2,050 cash game players at the room. However, 888 has generated major controversy in the past days by withdrawing its entire heads-up cash game offering.
