In his blog, Li considers this result comparable to a successful exam at the university:
"This is very reminiscent of the feeling I used to get shortly after finishing a huge exam or project back in college - I would characterize it as 'subdued elation.'" - Li writes on his blog.
After he returned from the Bahamas, where he played at the PCA in January, he instantly started grinding day and night to reach the SuperNova Elite rank. However, he took his time and went to a ski trip in February, when he was at 560,415 VPPs, he then realized that Isildur1 is also fighting for the new record (which Li didn't want to break in the first place), so he switched to a higher gear; he played 50 days out of 59 until he reached the 1 million mark on February 28.
Due to the PCA and the ski break, he had to do 20,000 VPP days on average despite the 16,949 VPP he could do if he played through the whole 59 days.
Li is a real SNG grinder, he plays various stakes up to $1,000. Of course to be able to hit the SuperNova Elite rank, he must concentrate to many tables at a time: he usually plays at 25 tables, but sometimes he did 40 SNGs at a time during the two months.
