As we reported many times already, Full Tilt Poker is currently offline because its licensing problems with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. The situation of Fulltiltpoker.fr, the French branch of the poker company, however, was undisclosed. The site ceased working the same time as Fulltiltpoker.com was shut down.
Yesterday, ARJEL (Autorité de régulation des jeux en ligne) released a press release in which they explained the situation. The most important reason for suspending Fulltiltpoker.fr's licence is the fact that the United States Deparment of Justice had frozen the poker room's bank account during the April 15 FBI actions. The ARJEL requested proof of Full Tilt Poker, which ensures they are in possesssion of the necessary assets to able to pay their French customers. No such document was submitted to ARJEL to date, therefore, they revoked Rekop Ltd.'s (the firm opearating Full Tilt Poker in france, owned by Ray Bitar) operating license.
Furthermore, the ARJEL statement mentions that as the AGCC suspended FTP's license, the fulltiltpoker.fr site also became unavailable to players, which was a breach of the license agreement.
ARJEL contacted the AGCC as well; they would like to ensure that the re-licensing negotiations will not affect French Full Tilt Players negatively.
