PartyPoker to Become Second Biggest Market Actor?

According to the most recent calculations, PartyPoker, joined by the Bwin players, might be able to climb up to the 2nd place of the online poker market traffic list.
Bwin players joined the PartyPoker network on 17 December, 2012. The network had occupied the 4th place on the market list among .com rooms and networks, as regards player traffic, but it had been expected that they would move forward to the 3rd place, getting ahead of iPoker.

The top position of the list is owned by PokerStars, having to fear no-one, considering the average of 23,400 cash game players on last week only. The runner-up is the freshly re-launched FTP with 3,850 players, followed by iPoker with 2,750 and PartyPoker with 2,650.

The stats above do not include Bwin players, so it is worth checking out how the list changes, considering the traffic of the past 24 hours. PokerStars had 38,920 cash game players, followed by PartyPoker with 6,484. FTP comes 3rd with 5,936 and iPoker had 5,032.

Traffic Increase

While it would be an exaggeration to arrive to long term conclusions based on 24 hours, it is apparent that PartyPoker has a shot at even the 2nd place, as opposed to predictions. The edge of the network is further enhanced by the fact that FTP, while instantly retaking its former 2nd place after the re-launch, has constantly been losing players. In four weeks in a row, they kept losing a large number of players, to a total of 56% of their pool with a 13% drop last week only. This gives even iPoker a chance to get ahead of FTP.

To sum up, PartyPoker, as long as it is capable of keeping the Bwin players, can become the main adversary to PokerStars.
On the day of the departure of Bwin, Ongame network experienced a 30% drop in its traffic. Still, based on the statistics from the last 24 hours, with 2,184 cash game players they do not seem to be much weakened. Occupying 7th place on the market list before the PartyPoker-Bwin merge, they manage to hold their position, based on the refreshed data.

Traffic list of the last 24 hours is as follows:

1. PokerStars: 38,920 players
2. PartyPoker: 6,484
3. FTP: 5,936
4. iPoker: 5,032
5. 888 Poker: 3,382
6. Microgaming: 2,954
7. Ongame: 2,184
8. Bodog: 2,094
9. Dollaro: 1,876
10. Revolution Gaming: 1,637

To many the high ranking of the Dollaro network might be surprising, even considering that they “only” place 10th in the weekly average comparison with 970 players. The less than high reputation room accepts mainly Italian players and is lacking any licences, bypassing the regulations. While the player pool is said to be easy, it has been the place of many scandals and cheats, therefore regulars avoid it at all costs. The legitimacy of its traffic data is also questionable: the Dollaro network made it to among the biggest networks and rooms within days on PokerScout, which made them suspicious even to the monitoring site. Dollaro itself provided these data, prone to easy manipulation, eventually causing PokerScout to remove them from the list – even though they are back on it again.
