iPoker network adds higher stakes to Six Plus Hold\'em offering

Players can now enjoy this relatively new, action-filled poker variant at the NL50 and NL100 tables aswell.

In February, the iPoker network introduced a new game called Six Plus Hold'em to their poker offering. The first time the poker community heard about the game was last year in a promotional video that starred Phil Ivey and Tom "durrrr" Dwan.

The game is similar to Texas Hold'em, the key difference is that it's played with 36 cards in the deck instead of 52. Cards between 2 - 5 are removed and Aces can be used both as a high card and as a Five (if you can make a straight with it).

Due the the fewer number of cards, hand strengths are also different, in this game three of a kind is stronger than a straight and a flush beats a full house.

Six Plus Hold'em has more action compared to Texas Hold'em and the variance is also bigger, which are the main reasons the game became popular in the Macau cash games, the high-stakes gamblers enjoy the excitement and the fact that due to the variance the professionals have a smaller edge.

The first major network to start spreading the game was iPoker and it seems like it has proved to be a success, as the room is now adding higher stakes. As of May 30, players can participate in Six Plus Hold'em games at NL50 and NL100 stakes aswell.

The iPoker network is currently fourth on the online poker traffic leaderboard with a 7-day average of 1,050 cash games players sitting at the tables.
