One of the biggest poker tournaments in Europe just concluded, with the Swiss Simon Boss claiming victory at the end. Our player, who won the €2,700 buy-in for the event by winning our special Intertops promo in June made it through Day1 but perished on Day2.
The 28th Poker EM, informally known as the European Poker Championships was held in the gorgeous lakeside town of Velden in Austria. The players, if they weren't completely immersed in the poker action at the tables, could enjoy the special scenery during the 10-day series.
The Main Event kicked off with 189 entries, but with Day 2 late regs the field swelled up to a record 236 players - this meant that they got to fight for more money than in any of the other 27 Poker EM ME's held before. The buy-in was €2,500 + €200 this year, so the prize pool ended up being an impressive €590,000.
The first prize ended up going to Swiss poker pro Simon Boss, who took home €120,000 after making a heads-up deal with the runner-up. Boss also won in the event in 2015.
The winner of our special Intertops promo, bigHUNgarian89 managed to get through Day1 but got eliminated on Day2.
