Partypoker Removes SPINS Ultra From the Line-up
It’s finally happened: partypoker removed the SPINS Ultra version from their line-up. The room completely replaced the variant with SPINS Overdrive. After introducing the Overdrive style of lottery sit-and-go (LSNG) games, the poker room kept a separate tab for the Ultra version. However, on October 4, partypoker took the step to remove the Ultra variation.
SPINS Ultra Variant
SPINS Ultra was introduced in April 2020 as a faster game format. It follows the basics of LSNG games but has faster blinds that increase each minute instead of every three minutes. It also had a shallower starting stack of 300 instead of the general 500. At the time of introducing it, many other poker rooms had introduced a faster version. As such, this was the response to remain competitive in the market.
Other Instances
Winamax was the original poker room to introduce the concept of faster LSNG games in 2019 with their Nitro variant. It’s unsurprising, considering the brand also introduced LSNG games under “Expresso”. PokerStars continued the trend with their Spin & Go Flash variant.
In the summer of 2020, partypoker joined the poker brands offering this game style. The game would deliver rapid-fire action and excellent mobile play.
The Removal of the Faster Format
However, not everything was as good as it seemed on paper or, in this case, on the screen. These rapid-fire variants are hard to beat, as the fast blind increases it challenges even the best players. As a result, SPINS Ultra games weren’t the fast, casual games they were meant to be but became a difficult variant to play successfully.
Considering the difficult gameplay, it’s no surprise that partypoker made the executive decision to replace it with something better. Over the last few months, partypoker has been streamlining its platform and improving its offering. As such, players aren’t left in the dust with this variant’s removal but continue to have other options.
Recent Changes at the Poker Room
The SPINS Overdrive now takes center stage as the sole LSNG game at partypoker, and it’s a riveting game. It has increased multiplier range, changed payout structures and blind levels, and different starting chip stacks. These changes make the game easier and more exciting than the Ultra version.
Further, the brand removed various less popular LSNG variants to create a user-friendly lobby and increase the player experience for recreational players. Its parent company, Entain, also removed its brands from unregulated markets.
Despite meaning that the room will lose some players, lowering the concurrent cash game seats to less than 500, the move shows the brand’s dedication to operating in legally regulated markets.
