Initially, 888poker rolled out its built-in Heads-Up Display (HUD) feature as a test for selected players. However, as of January 30, it became available to all players. The feature is free to use across all game types, including cash games, tournaments, as well as Blast and SNAP games.
888poker provides the HUD on all platforms, including desktop, mobile, and browser versions. The built-in HUD appears discreetly as a small circle next to players' avatars at the table. Initially, it only displays the VPIP (Voluntarily Put Money in Pot) statistic. However, when hovering over the circle with a mouse or tapping it on mobile, a pop-up window appears, revealing additional statistics such as PFR (Pre-Flop Raise) and 3-Bet. It also displays the number of hands played, the player's country, and in MTTs, their winnings.
The VPIP, PFR, and 3-Bet statistics apply only to the specific table. If a player leaves, the system retains their stats for two hours. If they return within this period, their previous statistics remain accessible. However, if the break exceeds two hours, the stats reset to zero.
The new HUD also allows players to take notes and tag their opponents. According to 888poker, the purpose of the HUD is to ensure a level playing field for all players.
Most operators that offer built-in HUDs prohibit the use of external tracking software. However, 888poker allows external HUDs such as PokerTracker and Hold'em Manager.
Built-in HUDs are no longer a novelty. The first fully functional built-in HUD was GGPoker’s Smart HUD, which debuted in 2018. Run It Once Poker and Winamax introduced their versions in 2020, followed by iPoker in 2021. Most recently, in December 2023, the Chico Poker Network also implemented this feature.
