GGPoker set a new milestone with more than 600,000 concurrent players. The record was fueled by the WSOP Online and the September poker season kickoff.
The world’s leading online poker network, GGPoker, achieved a new landmark on September 7: more than 600,000 players were logged in simultaneously – the highest number in the site’s history.
600K Record in a Single Evening
GGPoker first announced that it had surpassed the half-million concurrent users mark. Shortly afterward, another post followed: a screenshot of the lobby confirmed that 600,686 players were connected to the platform at the same time.
This was the first occasion the room broke both the 500,000 and 600,000 thresholds. While the status of an all-time industry record remains somewhat unclear, the figure is certainly noteworthy.
The official Guinness World Record is still held by PokerStars, which back in 2009 – also on the first Sunday of September – hosted 307,016 players across 42,814 tables. No updated Guinness entry has been published since.
Not Just Cash Game Players
It is important to note a difference: PokerStars reports the number of active cash game and tournament players seated at tables, while GGPoker displays the total number of logged-in users in real time, both in the client and on its website.
The surge was mainly driven by the ongoing WSOP Online series. Its sixth edition is currently underway, and on September 7 the $5,000 buy-in Main Event with $25 million guaranteed kicked off – the very same day GGPoker reached its record.
Steady Growth, Clear Market Leadership
Although the overall player count hit an all-time high, cash game traffic has not yet broken new ground. The site currently averages 10,314 seated cash game players on a 30-day moving average, which falls short of the 12,000 peak measured in January 2024. This indicates that the recent growth has been driven mainly by tournaments.
Among competitors, WPT Global holds second place with around 2,500 cash game seats, followed by PokerStars and closely behind them the iPoker network. The gap compared to GGPoker, however, remains massive, underscoring its clear market leadership.
