Apart from London and Copenhagen (and Monte Carlo, provided the Grand Finale will be held there), Barcelona is the only city that played host to an event in each of the EPT Seasons. In 2004, the buy-in was €1,000 and Swedish Alexander Stevic won the main event and the €80,000. In Season 6, entrees had to pay €8,000, resulting in the 478 participants creating a prize pool of €3,382,000; the winner was Carter Phillips, taking home €850.000.

The structure of the event is as usual: players start with 30,000 in chips, blinds begin at 50/100, antes enter at level 5. In the first qualification round, blinds increase in every hour, later in every 75 minutes.
