First to be eliminated was Spinella: the American pro raised to $55,000 from the Button, SB Bryan Colin 3-bet $150,000 and BB Papola, having Spinella’s stack counted (660,000), went all-in. Spinella called but Colin took his time considering his move, saying “I don't think I can fold this hand.” He eventually did fold his pocket jacks which turned out to be a wise decision.
Papola: T T
Spinella: Q Q
Board: T 7 2 5 K
Papola flopped a set, Spinella finished in 6th place.
Jeffrey ‘jpapola’ Papola
Colin was railed next, insta-calling Papola’s all-in at Level 25 (5,000/15,000/30,000) with T T . Papola showed A Q on the 3 9 5 K 2 board for the nut flush. After losing a huge pot, EPT London champion Vamplew shoved his remaining 245,000 with A J . Papola called with A 5 and so did Blumenthal with K Q . It was the latter to take both the main and a 510,000 side pot after the A 7 6 5 8 board gave him a flush.
Eddie Blumenthal
Klein, who had been struggling for a while then as shortstack, eventually found himself in the heads-up after the two big stacks clashed in a hand where both went all-in on the K 9 4 flop.
Blumenthal: A 3
Papola: K Q
Turn: 9
River: 5
Once again, the flush for Blumenthal sent his opponent to the rail and it also provided him with an almost 10:1 lead over Klein.
However, the patient Klein at this point wound things it up and doubled up multiple times until he was in the lead by Level 28. Blumenthal failed to recover his position and eventually was all-in with 7 7 . Klein called with A K ; although Blumenthal did pick up yet another flush on the 8 5 5 K Q board, this time Klein had the nuts.
