The Main Event also went through a number of changes since the last year. Before the official schedule was released, WSOP tweeted some interesting facts concerning the event; they said that this year, the final table won't be held in November. The poker community quickly thougth that finally WSOP won't separate the final table from the semifinals, but it turned out that due to the presidential elections, the FT will be held a week earlier, on 28 October, and the heads-up will take place on 30 October.
Also an important change occuring this year that the Main Event will be 3 days shorter than last year. There will be 3 first days instead of 4, followed by a 2A and a 2B day. The 3rd day will collect all the remaining players, and no break day will be held. Organizers expect a higher attendance from these changes, because it lowers other fees players have to pay such as accomodation, which caused problems for some players.
To facilitate the shorter main event, it was also needed that the Rio extend its room called Brasilia so they can fit 92 more tables in, so players will play at 470 tables this year.
The structure of the main event remains, the starting stack is 30,000, blinds start from 50/100 and levels change every 2 hours.
The WSOP 2012 events will start from 12:00 to 17:00 local time. Players are allowed to play 10 levels a day, or 11 if there are more entrants than 1,500. 8 levels are allowed in case of the events startin in the afternoon.
