The biggest European poker tournament series, the
European Poker Tour started out in 2004, since then they have been through 8 seasons, this year the 8th Grand Final will be held. It was organized in Monte Carlo every years except last year, when the event
moved to the Casino Gran Madrid, in the heart capital of Spain.
The number of participants seems a bit lower than expected this year, (2011: 686 participants, 2010: 848 participants, 2009: 935 participants), nevertheless last year's final was very successful. Bertrand ’ElkY’ Grospellier earned €525,000, winning the Grand Final High Roller event, defeating Benny Spindler heads-up and the €10,000 Main Event was won by Ivan Freitez for €1,500,000.
PokerStars now revealed that they relocated the final event to its original place, the
Monte Carlo Casino in Monte Carlo. The €10,600 event will be held between April 23-May 1, 2012 and will
"attract the best players in the world, who will do battle for millions of dollars in cash and one of live poker’s biggest first-place prizes" - according to
PokerStars.
Of course there will be many side events held besides the €10,600 Main Event, the most interesting is bound to be the €100,000 Super High Roller tournament, where only the biggest whales will compete.
