WSOP Event #19: Cliff Goldkind Wins $1,500 NLHE

WSOP Event #19 ended on its 3rd day, when 19 players started to battle for the first prize. Gregg Wilkinson started out as chipleader, but eventually Cliff Goldkind, a 24-year-old Maryland player emerged as the winner, defeating the 2,302-player field.
19 players sat down at the WSOP $1,500 No Limit Hold'em tournament tables in Las Vegas, and quite quickly, in just 4 hours the final table was set.

Dealing started on the 25th blind level, and even though Burks sat on a large stack of chips, he only spent about half an hour at the table; after losing several minor pots, he clashed with the other major stack, Cliff Goldkind. Gregg Wilkinson opened from EP, Burks 3bet to 190,000, and after a few folds, the BB Goldkind 4bet to 420,000. Wilkinson folded, Burks went all-in, Goldkind snap-called.

Burks got a three of a kind on the turn, but the river brought a flush to Goldkind,  who eliminated Burks.

Two-time WSOP champion Barry Shulman finished 8th after he was beaten by Goldkind, who was dealt pocket aces again, which defeated Shulman's all-in with {#}Q {#}8 on a dry board.

This was followed by the elimination of David Peters, Justin McGill, Gregg Wilkinson, Patrick Smith, and Adria Balaguer. Smith and Balaguer were eliminated by Goldkind as well, who couldn't complain about his hands, he defeated Balaguer with T-T against 4-4 on a dry board.

The heads-up did not last too long, in fact, the first hand of the clash between Goldkind and Nguyen decided the match. Nguyen went all-in Kh Js, Goldkind called with {#}6 {#}6 . The board was {#}2 {#}5 {#}2 {#}T {#}A .

The young player Cliff Goldkind got his first live tournament win this May, when he finished 4th at the WSOPC Chester $555 event. From now on, he's a WSOP champion as well.
