WSOP Event #22: Randy Ohel Wins 2-7 Triple Draw

The WSOP Event #22, the $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball ended with the victory of Randy Ohel, who scored $145,247 defating players like Josh Arieh and Layne Flack.

By the 3rd day of the tournament, only 9 players remained, dealing began to narrow the field down to the 6-handed final table, which formed by the elimination of the aforementioned pros, and a lady, Von Altizer.

On the 21st blind level, Jason Lavallee opened from hijack, WPT champion Shawn Buchanan 3bet from the cutoff, Lavallee called. Lavallee drew 2 cards, Buchanan one. Lavallee checked, Buchanan opened, Lvallee called. Both players drew 2 on the next draw, Lavallee bet, Buchanan called. On the third draw Lavallee stood pat, Buchanan drew one and both checked. Lavallee showed 9-7-5-4-2, Buchanan mucked.

A few hands later Benjamin Lazer opened, Buchanan called from BB. Buchanan drew three, Lazer only one. Buchanan check-called, and drew one, Lazer stood pat. On the 3rd draw, Buchanan pushed all-in, he drew one to 8-5-3-2, but it was a 2, so he had a pair. Lazer took the pot with 8-6-5-4-2, 5 remained.

After this, Randy Ohel took a major pot from Lavallee, who soon lost his remaining chips to Lazer.

Farzad Bonyadi finished 4, he was beaten by David Baker, who put together a 8-5-4-3-2 hand against him. Bonyadi showed 8-6 and was out. Later Baker bled many chips, Ohel taking the majority of them.

The heads-up lasted for more than 6 hours, and brought about interesting action, both players took the chiplead quite often. By the 27th blind level Ohel managed to build a considerable chiplead, and by the 28th level he was able to finish his opponent. Lazer almost lost all his chips and eventually was defated by Ohel's 9-6-4-3-2 combination.

Randy Ohel mainly scored at American tournaments, and got 3 ITM's at the WSOP already, his current victory is his biggest so far.
