The Macau High Stakes Challenge, the HKD 2,000,000 ($250,000) Super High Roller rebuy event was held on 31 August with quite a number of international superstars among the 73 players who registered. The field included Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Sam Trickett, Gus Hansen, Joe Hachem, Tom ’durrrr’ Dwan, Ben Lamb, Brian Rast, Mike ‘Timex’ McDonald, Erik Seidel and John Juanda, to name a few.
With all the buy-ins and rebuys, a total prize pool of $23.5 million was amassed. Players started with 100,000 in chips and the blinds kicked off at 500/500 with 30 minutes levels.
The top 12 finishes paid, the bubble boy was Du Yi Chen. The 8-handed final table was set with the elimination of JP Kelly, Di Dang, Philipp Gruissem and Alan Sass:

J . Stanley Choi called with pocket fives, improving to three of a kind on the flop and four of a kind on the turn. Lap Key Chan, John Juanda and Tang Zheng were eliminated after that, with the heads-up getting set when Nicholas Wong got railed.
Choi started with a 3-times edge over Zhu Guan Fai; in the last hand of the short HU, Fai shoved with pocket sixes only to meet Choi’s pocket tens on a neutral board. Stanley Choi hence got the $6.5 million first prize.
