The second day of the $3,000 WPT Montreal Main Event saw 362 players compete, with Patrick Leviever in the lead with a 326,100 stack. According to the original plans, the day would have lasted until 27 players remain, but due to the record-breaking number of entrants (1,173), they had to stop earlier.
Many big names took part in the competition, including Ashton Griffin, David Williams, Mike McDonald, Will Failla, Andy Frankenberger, Antonio Esfandiari, Dominik Nitsche, Amanda Musumeci, Jason Koon, Xuan Liu, Joseph Cheong, Allen Kessler, Mark Radoja, Gavin Smith, Tristan Wade, Christian Harder, Todd Terry, Timothy Adams, Dan Smith, Mohsin Charania, Jonathan Driscoll, Amanda Musumeci, Tom Marchese and John Racener in the Playground Poker Club. Most of them had gotten eliminated before the bubble burst, the field dropping to 117 paying places with the elimination of Soren Turkewitsch. Mark Radoja took place 111, Xuan Liu finished 86th, and Jonathan Driscoll went home in the 62nd place.
Big names still remained for day 3, including Jef Gross in the chiplead. Gross has already played numerous WSOP Final Tables, and is a successful online player going by the nick "kidwhowon", and is also known for being a close friend of Michael Phelps. Gross advanced with 2,422,000 in chips. Behind him is EPT and Epic League champion Mike "Timex" McDonald with 1,598,000, and third place is taken by Jason Koon with 1,546,000. Christian Harder, Gavin Smtih, Timothy Adams, Amanda Musumeci, Ashton Griffin and Dan Smith are also still in the competition.
