The $25,000 WPT Championship Main Event Day 5 saw only eight players returning to play it down to the six-handed official final table. The biggest stack belonged to 2008 WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic champion Chino Rheem at the beginning of the day.

Seat 1: Jonathan Roy – 1,987,000 (66 BBs)
Seat 2: David Peters – 858,000 (28 BBs)
Seat 3: Erick Lindgren – 2,518,000 (83 BBs)
Seat 4: Rocco Palumbo – 680,000 (22 BBs)

Seat 6: Daniel Negreanu – 545,000 (18 BBs)
Seat 7: Matt Hyman – 1,940,000 (64 BBs)
Seat 8: Chino Rheem – 4,839,000 (161 BBs)

Play started on Level 21 (5,000/15,000/30,000) and it soon came to the first elimination of the day: Rocco Palumbo shoved with his 510,000 in chips from the SB and Brandon Steven called from the BB.

Steven: {#}K {#}J

Board: {#}T {#}9 {#}5 {#}9 {#}5

A king kicker gave the pot to Steven.

Later on, Daniel Negreanu began to draw dead and, even though he managed to double up on Matt Hyman with his AQ improving over Hyman’s AK, the Canadian ended up being the final table bubble boy. Rheem attacked from UTG+1 on Level 22 (5,00/20,000/40,000) with a 85,000 raise, Erick Lindgren called from the Button and so did Negreanu from the BB. The flop came {#}T {#}8 {#}5 , Lindgren bet 120,000, Negreanu check-raised to 605,000, Rheem folded and Lindgren called.

Negreanu: {#}A {#}T
Lindgren: {#}J {#}J

Turn: {#}8
River: {#}7

Lindgren won with top two pairs.
