WSOP 2013 - Event #10 - Brent Wheeler Takes Down $1,500 LHE

Day 3 of World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2013 Event #10 $1,500 Limit Hold’em saw 19 players returning to crown a champion. Two times WSOP bracelet holder Eric ‘E-Fro’ Froehlich had the chiplead.

Of the total of 645 entrants of WSOP 2013 Event #10 $1,500 LHE (prize pool: $870,750), only 177 returned on Day 2 and barely 19 of those returned on the last day to see a victor emerge. The top of the chipcount was occupied by two times WSOP champion Eric ‘E-Fro’ Froehlich with 319,000 in chips. He was accompanied by Brent Wheeler and Barry Shulman, among others, with the latter being the shortest stack in the field.

Shulman did finish 19th, while Wheeler and Froehlich made it to the nine-handed Final Table, the seat draw of which being as follows:

Seat 4: Brian Nichols – 270,000
Seat 5: Chiduziem Obi – 159,000

Early into the finale, Froehlich lost a number of major pots and was left with only 11,000 in chips by Level 23 (15,000/30,000). He called all-in with A-7 to see Wheeler and Malissia Zapata check down the J-9-K-8-K board and Wheeler win the pot, showing Q-9.

Alex Queen, Brian Nichols, William James, Grayson Scoggin and Chiduziem Obi finished in this order. The heads-up was set with the elimination of Zapata, who shoved with Q-4 on the 8-4-Q-J board, which hand got crackled by Wheeler’s Q-J top two pairs. The river came 5.

The lead went back and forth in the heads-up and the major clash ended only on Level 28 (50,000/100,000), shoving on the {#}9 {#}9 {#}3 flop.
