Players began dropping out quickly afterwards, Todd Barlow, Alexander Kostritsyn, George Danzer, Shawn Buchanan, Julie Schneider, and this year's NBC Heads-Up champion Mike Matusow all missed out on the final table.
The bubble boy came to be the WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel, who was beaten by Robert Mizrachi. In a hand where Jeff Lisandro raised all-in with 24,000, Zhukov and Duhamel called, and Duhamel was defeated. He became short stacked and in the next hand he was beaten by Robert Mizrachi. The official final table was set.

Bart Hanson was the first to leave the final table followed by Ryan Lenaghan, who was eliminated by Hastings.
On the 25th level, Jeff Lisandro was out, he was forced to move all-in, but was beaten by Zhukov and Hastings, who took the low and the high pots as well.
The tides have turned, and minutes later, Zhukov and Arthur Kargen were busted.

4-handed play went on for two hours, until Hastings lost the majority of his chips and was out. Mizrachi opened from the button, Hastings 3bet from the SB. Mizrachi called, the flop came K 5 3 . Hastings bet again, Mizrachi raised. They got all-in on the Q turn.

The heads-up formulated with the elimination of Robert Mizrachi, who opened from the button for his last 50,000 (Blind level 25), Christopher George and Danny Fuhs called. Fuhs showed, two pairs, tens and sevens; Mizrachi was out in 3rd place, adding $128,074 to his tournament winnings.
The heads-up lasted for several hours, with the two players often changing the chiplead between each other. After a break, the final hand was dealt. Christopher George was sitting on the button, where he opened, Danny Fuhs 3bet. After a few more raises, George shoved, Fuhs called.
