WSOP 2013 Event #38 $2,500 No Limit Hold’em Four Handed saw 566 players registering to Day 1 for a total prize pool of $1,287,650. The money bubble of 64 paying finishes burst on Day 2, where 75 competitors returned, including two times WSOP champion David Pham, five times WSOP champion John Juanda or Stephen Chidwick, Faraz Jaka and Maria Ho. By the end of the day, only 8 players remained to play it down to the winner.

Day 3 started on two tables with Pham in the chiplead. Jonathan D'Souza, Mike DeGilio and Daniel Park got eliminated before the official final table was formed on Level 23 (2,000/8,000/16,000). In fact, a double elimination left only three players at the table: Nick Schwarmann raised to 32,000 and both Pham and Juanda called. The flop came {#}Q {#}3 {#}4 , Schwarmann bet 43,000, Pham called and Juanda raised all-in after tanking long. Schwarmann called instantly and Pham, after finding out he would finish 4th if called and lost, followed suit for a three-way all-in.

Schwarmann: {#}A {#}7
Pham: {#}K {#}J
Juanda: {#}Q {#}2

Turn: {#}5
River: {#}3

The river completing both flush draws, Schwarmann had the nut with the ace-high and so were Juanda as well as Pham eliminated in 5th and 4th places, respectively.

Seat 1: Justin Oliver – 1,140,000
Seat 3: Jared Jaffee – 534,000
Seat 4: Nick Schwarmann – 2,587,000

The Final Table continued but the heads-up was set soon, on the same level: Jared Jaffee check-raised to 90,000 on Schwarmann’s bet on the {#}7 {#}6 {#}Q flop. After thinking a bit, Schwarmann 3-bet all-in and Jaffee called.

Schwarmann: {#}T {#}5
Jaffee: {#}Q {#}J

Turn: {#}Q
River: {#}9

The clubs on the river gave Schwarmann his flush and Jaffee was out in 3rd.

Nick Schwarmann – 2,587,000
Justin Oliver – 1,140,000

Schwarmann had a major lead, which he further increased in the first hands of the heads-up. Justin Oliver, however, managed to gradually increase his stack, until he doubled up to take over the lead with a major pot of 1,592,000 in chips. Oliver then held tight onto his edge and did not let go. The tournament was over on Level 26 (5,000/15,000/30,000): Oliver raised to 60,000, Schwarmann 3-bet to 175,000, Oliver 4-bet to 350,000 and Schwarmann called. They both checked the {#}5 {#}9 {#}8 flop as well as the {#}K turn. Schwarmann then went all-in on the {#}6 river and Oliver called.

Schwarmann: {#}J {#}T
Oliver: {#}K {#}4

Schwarmann’s queen never fell and Oliver’s kings meant the end of the event and a first ever golden bracelet for him.
