2,161 entrants built a prize pool of $2,917,350 in WSOP 2013 Event #40 $1,500 No Limit Hold’em. The field came close to the 243 ITM finishes with only 249 players remaining for Day 2. Only 21 of them returned on Day 3 with online MTT pro Nicolas ‘PKaiser’ Fierro in the lead (stack: 965,000) and notable players like Allen Cunningham, Griffin 'Flush_Entity' Benger and Kara Scott also in the field.

Scott eventually finished 17th, losing her stack to Cunningham in a flip, and Benger was out in 4th, running into Peter Hengsakul’s cooler king on the river for trips with pocket rockets. Hengsakul then eliminated five times WSOP champion Cunningham in 10th to set up the finale.

The Final Table seat draw was as follows:

Seat 1: Fred Berger – 843,000
Seat 2: David Nicholson – 259,000
Seat 3: Peter Hengsakul – 2,622,000
Seat 4: Nicolas Fierro – 1,046,000
Seat 5: Joao Dorneles Neto – 635,000
Seat 6: Richard Dubini – 937,000
Seat 7: Allan Vrooman – 1,963,000
Seat 8: Matt Berkey – 788,000
Seat 9: Jared Hamby – 616,000

David Nicholson opened the line of eliminations and Fred Berger, Richard Dubini, Matt Berkey as well as Joao Dorneles Neto followed. Favourite Fierro was out in 4th: after Jared Hamby doubled up on him in a flip, and then he shoved his remaining chips on Level 27 (5,000/25,000/50,000) from the BB on Hengsakul’s raise all-in for 5,500,000 and original better Allan Vrooman also called all-in with 710,000 from UTG.

A couple of hands later, Hengsakul called Vrooman’s 4-bet all-in for 1,700,000 in chips and showed K-Q. Vrooman had pocket eights but Hengsakul’s hand improved to a straight on the 9-A-T-9-J board and the heads-up was set.

Peter Hengsakul – 7,125,000
Jared Hamby – 2,600,000

Early in the heads up, Hamby dropped down to only 1,000,000 in chips but he managed to double up three times to build his stack to 7,500,000 by the last hand. On Level 29 (10,000/40,000/80,000), Hengsakul raised to 160,000, Hamby 3-bet all-in and Hengsakul called all-in with 1,800,000.
