Six times WSOP champion Layne Flack had the lead in the seven-handed finale on Day 3 of WSOP 2013 Event #43 $10,000 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball with 574,000 in chips. The tournament had 87 entrants and a prize pool of $817,800. The field melted to 55 players, including quite a number of renowned stars, by the end of the first day.

On Day 2, the bubble of 14 in the money finishes burst with names like Phil Laak, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Greg Mueller, Johnny Chan and Phil Galfond getting eliminated along the way. The bubble boy was Brian Hastings, who happened to celebrate his 25th birthday that day. Later on, Dan O'Brien (14th), Larry Wright (13th), Naoya Kihara (12th) as well as Day 1 chipleader and online MTT ace Calvin ‘cal42688’ Anderson (11th) busted out.

With the elimination of James Lee (10th), Ashton Griffin (9th) and Paul Volpe (8th), the official Final Table could be drawn but it remained to be played on the final tournament day.

The Day 3 seat draw was as follows:

Seat 1: Jesse Martin - 536.500
Seat 2: Layne Flack - 574.000

The final table participants had a total of 16 WSOP bracelets when they were seated at the Final Table, with only Jon Turner and Jesse Martin being eluded by the coveted title before. Two times champion John Hennigan got railed first, on Level 18 (2,000/4,000/8,000), his T-8 low being cracked by Konstantin Puchkov’s 9-8 low.

Surprisingly, chipleader and favourite Flack was next, on Level 21 (4,000/8,000/16,000): he moved all-in with 8-7-6-2 and Martin called with J-6-5-3. Flack then got an 8 on the last street for a higher pair and Martin won with a 3. Turner was out in 5th, his title having to wait to come, and five times champion Jeff Lisandro followed. The heads-up was set when Puchkov got railed with T-7 low against Martin’s 9-7 low.

Jesse Martin – 2,157,000

The final duel was over soon, on Level 23 (6,000/12,000/24,000): Martin raised to 62,000 in the last hand, two times title holder David ‘Bakes’ Baker pushed all-in with 447,000 and Martin called. They both changed one card.
