A total of 1,072 players registered to WSOP 2013 Event #44 $3,000 No Limit Hold’em, accumulating a $2,926,560 prize pool. 220 players remained at the end of Day 1 and the money bubble burst on the next at the top 117 finishers. WSOP 2010 $25,000 NLHE Six Handed champion Dan ‘djk123’ Kelly was among those who aimed at an ITM finish, which would be his 9th this year, a record-breaking attempt on his part to best Konstantin Puchkov’s result of 11 paying finishes from last year.

Kelly was accompanied by Dominik Nitsche, Jonathan Duhamel, Lauren Kling, Jason Mercier, Joe Cada, Faraz Jaka, Sorel Mizzi, Michael Mizrachi, Maria Ho, Barry Shulman, Matt Marafioti, David Vamplew, Randy Lew and Mark Radoja, to name just some of the players from Day 2. Eventually, only 22 participants remained, including Mercier from the reputable list above.

On Day 3, play started on Level 21 (1,000/5,000/10,000) and the Final Table was formed on Level 25 (4,000/12,000/24,000). Mercier got eliminated along the way in 16th place, going all-in with pocket nines against Michael Rocco, who held aces. Although the flop and turn gave Mercier a full house, nines over sevens, a cooler ace on the river gave the pot to Rocco and Mercier was busted.

The Final Table seat draw was as follows:

Seat 1: Mark Teltscher – 873,000
Seat 2: Nam Le – 883,000
Seat 3: Niall Farrell – 504,000
Seat 4: Phillippe Vert – 955,000
Seat 5: Pedro Rios – 944,000
Seat 6: Zohair Karim – 881,000
Seat 8: Martin Hanowski – 1,004,000
Seat 9: Michael Rocco – 2,868,000
Seat 10: Sandeep Pulusani – 740,000

Another ace on the river brought about the first elimination, giving a top set to Martin Hanowski over Phillippe Vert’s trip sixes, sending the latter packing in the 12th hand of the finale. Pedro Rios, Nam Le, Mark Teltscher, Zohair Karim and Hanowski followed. The heads-up was formed on Level 29 (10,000/30,000/60,000), when Rocco 3-bet all-in on Niall Farrell’s 125,000 raise and the latter called. Farrell held kings against Rocco’s sixes and the board came neutral.

Niall Farrell - 8,900,000
Sandeep Pulusani - 770,000

Farrell began with an immense lead; however, in a lengthy duel, Sandeep Pulusani manager to come back to 2,800,000 in chips, where he doubled up to capture the chiplead. Farrell then began to drop even more down and he pushed all-in with only 1,600,000. Pulusani called.
