Yesterday, we reported on how Martin Kabrhel stormed into the chip lead on Day 1 of the most expensive tournament of the 2025 WSOP. (Read that story here.) But Day 2 brought big shifts: Belgium’s Thomas Boivin surged ahead and bagged the most chips heading into the final table.
Day 2 Wrap-Up – Final Table Set
Late registration remained open through the first two levels of Day 2. By the time entries closed, the total field had climbed to 63 players—46 on Day 1 and 17 more joining on Day 2. That created a massive $15,584,625 prize pool.
Only eight players survived to the end of Day 2, all of whom are now guaranteed a payout of at least $581,411. The eventual winner will walk away with $4,752,551.

Day 2 Highlights
Several big-name high rollers jumped in or re-entered throughout the day, but not all found success. Dan Smith, Matthias Eibinger, and Chris Hunichen each fired twice—none made the money.
Once again, Martin Kabrhel was at the center of the drama. While he didn’t retain his chip lead, he made headlines by busting Phil Ivey—his pocket eights held against Ivey’s pocket fours. Kabrhel also delivered a controversial slowroll against Jonathan Jaffe: holding A-K, he tanked before calling a 4-bet shove from Jaffe’s A-5, then won the hand.
Andrew Lichtenberger burst the money bubble when his suited ace-ten ran into Boivin’s pocket kings. Soon after, Biao Ding was eliminated, leaving nine players for the official final table. Daniel Negreanu exited first—his ace-nine couldn’t overcome Alex Foxen’s ace-king.
Final Table Resumes
Play resumes Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. local time with blinds at 150,000/300,000. Players return with an average stack of 39 big blinds.
