Zhang Dan Peng
APT (Asian Poker Tour) has come to its end yesterday with the victory of 18-year-old Chinese amateur player Zhang Dan Peng. The young player has only been playing poker for 6 months, this was his first live tournament ever. Finishing first, he cashed $251,000 worth in HK$. He is the first Chinese player to win the APT Macau.
However interesting news this is in itself, locals are much more interested in the cash game tables. As APT Macau tournament director Matt Savage posted on Two Plus Two:
"Despite the light turnout at the Asian Poker Tour Macau the cash games are some of the biggest in history as Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Chau Giang, and John Juanda are playing HK$5,000-10,000 with some Chinese businessmen. The game plays much bigger and there was about 40 million on the table last night when I saw the game. (...) Juanda is the biggest winner in the game so far. Durrrr, Ivey, and Chau are stuck a combined few million HK$. When I asked Dwan when he was moving here he said 'very soon'. "
Next day the game continued at the StarWorld Casino, where the high stakes action continued. Savage writes:
"The latest hearsay is the Durr is now 1.7 million USD winner and that Ivey has gotten back to even. I think if they continue to win they WILL NOT be invited back IMO."
There is a Chinese businessman who plays with almost all the pros, however he can determine how many pros are allowed at the table. Durrrr said those Asian guys are tough, and don't care about money at all, and are impossible to bluff.
According to latest news, Phil Ivey won the biggest pot throughout the whole cash game action, more than $2 million. Maybe he and durrrr can live happily ever after in Macau?
