The site shifts to freezeouts in the Main Events of 2019.
Partypoker is slowly becoming the number one player in the tournament scene, both live and online. While their biggest online festivals (including the ongoing Christmas Freeze) gain widespread popularity, their live tournament offering is also one of the strongest on the market.
The five-stop Season 3 will include stops all around the world, with the likes of Rio de Janeiro, Montreal, Rozvadov, and Baha Mar.
It wasn't a long time ago, when Dusk Till Dawn owner, Rob Yong expressed his disapproval towards the re-entry events, preferring the freezeout formats. It looks like his words were listened to, as all of the Main Events in 2019 will come with a freezout format.
As Partypoker President, John Duthie said: “Our MILLIONS Season 2 tour has been very successful, however, we pride ourselves on listening to player feedback and continually improving our offering to ensure we provide the best live tour in the world.
“As part of this we are going to change the format of our MILLIONS tournaments to a 10,000 (local currency) freezeout, with reduced late registration and no multiple Day 1s. The schedules will be reduced to a maximum of seven days, giving the host venues the option to add their own events around the tournament to build the festival.”
MILLIONS South Africa, North America, and Europe Main Events will all offer $5 million in guaranteed prizes, while the MILLIONS World Main Event at Baha Mar a $10 million GTD. The guaranteed prize pool for the MILLION Online event is yet to be announced.
Partypoker will also introduce a traveling trophy, which will be etched with the champions' name. This services the purpose of the MILLION Live becoming even more prestigious in the poker world: “We want the MILLIONS brand to be synonymous with being one of the most prestigious live competitions in the world," John Duthie said. "We hope these changes will allow us to improve and build our MILLIONS tour to make it the best LIVE experience for our players,” he added.
