PokerStars has been beta testing the new format since 24th February at the TestPokerStars client. Many new functions has been added since, and developers felt that the software is ready to be rolled out to real money players. Lee Jones, a representative of PokerStars announced this on a popular poker forum.
„Zoom poker is our new, fast-paced ring game format. It’s just like your favorite poker games, except your opponents change every hand. This is because you are playing against a pool of players rather than a fixed set of opponents on a single table.
The beta version is available for you to try now. You can find Zoom tables under the new ‘Zoom’ tab in the PokerStars game software. Simply choose the stakes you want to play and you’ll be dealt in.”
Zoom Poker was highly expected prior to its launch, before public beta testing started in February. Players didn’t find the new format too impressive, but as the developers added new features and polished the client, Zoom Poker became a quite decent addition to PokerStars’ products. Even though, the originality of the concept is highly questionable, not too many elements differ from Full Tilt Poker’s Rush Poker offering.
Rush poker was very popular when Full Tilt Poker was still open, however, the format became extinct for a while after the Black Friday, it is currently available at InstaDeal’s Terminal Poker, which only offers rush poker-like tables.
