“I have resigned my position at Cake Poker … Their management has made some strategic decisions with which I’m not comfortable,” Jones posted on 2+2, adding later that “I have a couple of irons in the fire. I certainly have every intention of staying in the poker business, so I’ll have to see what pans out.”
Lee Jones
Jones is not the only one leaving Cake; following his announcement on Tuesday, tournament director Serge Ravitch followed suit. “It sincerely pains me to say that, for the same reasons, I am also no longer affiliated with Cake in any way. I wish them the best of luck going forward,” he posted.
The exact nature of the “strategic decisions” that made the two of them leave the network remains undisclosed as yet. It is the loss of Jones that might hit Cake especially hard, as the author of the popular book "Winning Low Limit Hold’em" is one of the most recognised faces of the industry. His most notable achievements include PokerStars’ leading role in the market and many consider the site being among the most user-friendly the result of his work.
