The talks are needed as the site does not want to create an own room, only aims to cooperate with these companies; a total of 8 licences are planned to be issued, the holders of which being able to provide their services via Facebook, writes EGR. The share the community portal would receive of the companies’ profit is, however, undisclosed.
Facebook is currently also host to play money poker provider Zynga, which firm offers poker to over 30 million users monthly. Although it has been rumoured that Zynga itself should enter the real money market, company General Manager Laurence Toney refuted this.
Facebook has not yet commented on the news but 888 Holdings representatives have promised an official statement to be released soon. The participation of the site in online poker can give the industry a much needed boost, opening for a new set of players. Although initially real money games would only be available in the United Kingdom, an expansion is expected to other regulated markets later on.
