It was ‘urnotindangr’ who started off better, although he definitely needed some luck: he went 3-bet all-in with pocket eights which ‘Isildur1’ called with queens, and it was the eight on the turn that literally turned the odds in favour of Palmer on the otherwise neutral board. A few minutes past, and the stacks were once again in the middle on the T 7 3 4 board:
‘urnotindangr’: K 8
‘Isildur1’: 9 7
River: 8
‘Urnotindangr’ wins the pot with a pair of eights.
In the next 150 hands or so, Palmer managed to go +$50,000, but then, in the matter of only half an hour, Blom won seven buy-ins, taking the lead from his opponent. He kept taking the pots, amassing a lead of $50,150 by the 1,507th hand. Although ‘urnotindangr’ began to close in on ‘Isildur1’, the latter still had a massive lead of $24,000 by the last 100 hands.
In the finish, however, the tide was turning: ‘urnotindangr’ flopped a full to his pocket fives which helped him win a $58,850 monster pot that just evened the odds (Blom barreled to the river on the 5 2 2 7 4 board with T 8 ). Palmer check-raised on the river and Blom went all-in, trying to make Palmer fold). ‘Urnotindangr’ also won a major pot with triple threes (he held A 3 ) against ‘Isildur1’s’ pocket aces, finishing the session with a $5,425 profit.
