Las Vegas justice of the peace ruled last Friday, that Anthony Carleo, son of a local judge and suspect of the Bellagio robbery of December, 2010, “will stand trial on multiple felony counts,” as the Los Angeles Times reports. He was nicknamed the ‘Biker Bandit’ as he used a motorcycle to escape after, wearing a helmet and showing a gun, he hit the Bellagio and grabbed $1.5 million in chips from the craps tables.

For those who have missed out on it and for those who agree this story never gets old, here is how he got busted. Authorities stated that in the following weeks Carleo played at the casino regularly, even qualifying himself for a free accommodation as a high-roller. Being tracked and monitored in the mean time, he finally resorted to selling the ‘cranberries’, the chips of the highest value of his loot ($25,000 each). With the help of members of the online poker community, meetings with the Biker were arranged where he sold some of the chips to an undercover officer. He also admitted to have raided the Bellagio, when asked to join a hit on the casino. He even complained about his father, Municipal Court Judge George Assad, cutting his $1,000 monthly allowance upon arguing over his gambling and drug issues.

Carleo, who would easily make a nominee in a competition for the imaginary Most Miserable Robber of All Time (a close second seems to be this guy below), is now behind bars on $1 million bail.
