Ulliott pursued a life of crime in his early years, betting, gambling, safe-cracking, he has also been to jail for a total of 27 months in his life.
Then, in 1993 he took part in his first professional poker tournament at the age of 39, and soon got the grasp of the game. He eliminated Men 'The Master' Nguyen in the $500 PLO event of the Four Queens Poker Classic. This is where he got the 'Devilfish' nickname.
