As we wrote about it earlier, John Racener was arrested for his 3rd DUI (driving under the influence) 5 days ago in Tampa, Florida. According to the official police report, he raised the attention of the police by stumbling to his car looking intoxicated. Police officer Julius Cannon followed him as he drove past through a red light, and after that, he was pulled over by the squad car. He refused to complete all the field sobriety exercises and asked the officer to let him go home on foot. After refusing to take the breath test (which is also a misdemeanor), he was taken into custody. He stayed there for 9 hours and after paying the $1,000 bail, was released. What he was doing in the area where he was caught remains unknown, but as Tampa Police Department spokeswoman told Gambling911.com, "The area where Racener was observed walking along and stumbling is right near an area of town with a lot of bars and nightclubs."
"I am very upset by my actions of recent days. I should have known better. But there is no time like the present to turn things around. I am getting help and feel stronger already. I want to thank all of you for your support, especially Full Tilt Poker for their continued faith in me and their assistance in helping me realize that my actions impact others." - Writes the young Full Tilt pro. According to state law, he can easily get jail time, and also a revocation of his license for life. We think that after 3 strikes, this sounds reasonable.
Adam Greear, Facebook fan of Racener disagreed with Racener's priorities concerning whom he should thank:
"Dude, how about thanking the officer who potentially saved your life and the life of innocent people that night, since you apparently couldn't walk and blew through a stop sign? Thanking fulltilt poker? My lord man, drop your own agenda for 2 seconds. I really hope you get the help you need. Good luck & God Bless man."
TwoPlusTwo forums are buzzing with anger and hate for Racener, and they generally agree that he deserves his licence to be withdrawn and that there's no excuse why he couldn't just go by a limousine or a cab. He could have afforded.
