Sorel Mizzi
In 2007, Sorel Mizzi was caught multi-accounting on Full Tilt Poker. He bought Chris Vaughn's account 'BluffMagCV' when he was running deep in a $1million guaranteed tournament. He finished first at the tournament eventually, winning the $200,000 first prize. Full Tilt soon discovered the arrangement, confiscated the winnings and banned both Mizzi and Vaughn from the site permanently. The runner-up finisher Soren 'Kongsgaard' Kongsgaard has been given the first prize later.
Mizzi has also been banned from PokerStars for 3 months after the scandal and had to resort to playing at smaller sites. TwoPlusTwo users and the poker community called him a cheater and his popularity quickly fell, the Italian has publicly apologized many times, and posted a long explanation on TwoPlusTwo, after a while he managed to get his reputation back; this is exlempified by his BLUFF Player of the Year nomination and win and his extraordinary live tournament success in 2010 finishing 3rd at the Aussie Millions Main Event cashing more than $650,000. This might have convinced Full Tilt Poker to forgive, and let him back to the site. As it turns out from Mizzi's Twitter feed:
"19/25 in FTOPS #33 $300Rebuy- already won a ton in prop bets seeing if I can close big on first day back on FTP"
No official word has been given by Full Tilt about the reasons behind the unbanning so far.
