"It's a crazy feeling, I don't even know how to describe it. It just seems more and more strange each time something good happens. It's a real strange statistical aberration, and I'm happy to be on the right side of it. If I wasn't, I'd probably be broke right now." - commented Seidel after he won the WPT Championship Super High Roller event.
He added that there's no "secret recipe" for his huge success; he feels that he got used to the modern poker, which is played today.
"The thing is, you always try to do things differently because you are always engaged with different players and different styles, so it's always a challenge to figure out what your opponent may have, how to maximize value when you have a good hand, and how to lose the least when you'd don't. That never changes, but it's getting more difficult with the young kids coming out now. Vivek Rajkumar is an incredible player, he is just so, so gifted. It's nice, because the games has changed so much over the past couple of years, and it feels great to have success against these guys that I have so much respect for, so that's an extra bonus."
With his latest big win, Seidel leads the all-time tournament money list with $15,945,180. He scored his first notable victory when he defeated Johnny Chan in the final heads-up at the 1988 WSOP Main Event. The great introduction was followed by an even greater career, but this year has been exceptionally good, even for Erik Seidel, and it's only May yet. We'll see whether his heater will continue at the 2011 WSOP or not.
