Biggest Winners of 2010

Nearing the end of the last year of the decade, it is only natural most sites evaluate the biggest winners and losers, the most notable newcomers and players in general, etc. Now is the time for us to do the math and see who the biggest winners of 2010 are.

Fundamental changes being unexpected to come in the next one and a half days, we might well give a summary of how it went for the most notable poker pros. Among the best players was online limit hold’em phenomenon IHateJuice who, clashing with titans like Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius, earned about $2.5 million in total. Speaking of Ivey, he is next in our Top 5 with $3 million in profit – his presence might well be the least surprising. With an astonishing start in early 2010, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan saw a lead of over $7 million, but it has been reduced by now to $3.6 million by a series of major downswings, including his clashes with Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates (see below). Andreas ‘skjervoy’ Torbergsen occupies the 2nd place on HighStakesDB’s profit list with almost $3.8 million.

Currently it is Daniel ’jungleman12’ Cates who Isildur1 was a mere year ago: having had a breakthrough year in 2010, he leads the profit list with earnings over $4.9 million. He has been way ahead of the field throughout most of the year, amassing a notable part of his winnings from the second instalment of the Durrrr Challenge.

For a brief moment, it is worth taking note of the “Top 5” of the other side, those who lost the most in 2010, which list is equally telling. Between sbrugby ($-1.5 million) and cadillac1944 ($-1.8 million) stands Gus Hansen, down $-1.6 million which is still reasonable enough in comparison with his previous $7.7 million overall loss. Meanwhile, with $-2 million Ziigmund still could not manage to deprive Brian Townsend ($-2.5 million) of his “throne.”

Rest assured, we are confident 2011 is going to bring about a number of swings in these lists.
