888poker is one of the biggest and most prestigious sites out there. They've recently organized a 34-event-strong tournament saga, where they guaranteed $2.8 million in total prizes.
Many of the 888poker Ambassadors were keen to jump into the action. When asked about his plans for the festival, Chris Moorman said: “I will be playing most of it from Mexico. It’s a good time zone to play which gives you a chance to go out in the morning for a workout as well as being able to go for dinner at the end of the day. I usually travel with a monitor, which helps me to be able to play more tables. I will be studying in the next few weeks to feel better prepared as well.”
Former WSOP Main Event champ, Martin Jacobson also had a well-calculated plan: “I never travel for online series simply because if I did, I would never be home,” he said with a big smile on his face. “I have a pretty good setup at my house with a gym and office all in the same room. My routine will be strategic for long days/nights behind the screen and consist of meditation, running, moving, meal prepping, supplementation, and recovery techniques.”
Four-time WSOP bracelet winner, Dominik Nitsche had to skip the XL Eclipse grind for a while, but he hit the grind button just like his fellow teammates. “My preparation for will be a bit different this year,” started Dominik.
“I have at least one live tournament stop on the schedule, the Poker Masters in Las Vegas, that I absolutely need to play.”
“I'll try to play as much as I can, but I don't have a schedule yet as I’m quite busy,” he said. “I will most likely play all the higher buy-ins though, and I'd love to take down the Main Event this time. I chopped it before, and I really want to do better,” added Dom, reflecting his runner-up finish in the 2016 Super XL Series IV, where he walked away with $206,400.
Considering the fat prize pools and the side-promotions it was no surprise to see, that all of the top players were focusing on the series.
Other than the seven-figure prize pool, 888poker added some extra juice into the mix, with their massive $1,000,000 reward to a lucky player, who manages to take down at least 5 events. Those who win 4 would also receive a nice reward of $100K, while 3-time winners could count on their extra $10K right into their poker balances!
Despite the lack of multiple wins, there were several players, who walked away with six- and five-figure prizes, with the likes of online crusher, Roman "Romeopro33" Romanovskyi, who took down the $1,000,000 Main Event for $187,500 or German high-roller regular, Dietrich "2pacnrw16" Fast, who won the $200,000 High Roller for $72,625.
Even though no one was able to pull that trick, the festival was an absolute success, with players hailing the series all around the world and this was enough 888poker not to step back on their tournament offering.
Their tournament schedule still includes popular MTTs with the likes of The Mega Dozen, The Hurricane, The Goldfish amongst many others.
