The Winning Poker Network (WPN) is testing two new games exclusively on the ACR Poker platform: Poker Races and Bounty Hunter. These games are likely to appeal to gambling enthusiasts, as one minimizes the role of poker skills, while the other is entirely luck-based.
As such, they may not find favor with players who prefer traditional poker formats.
Both games operate using artificial intelligence, combining elements from daily fantasy sports (DFS), multi-table tournaments (MTTs), lottery sit & gos, and casino games.
Poker Races – A New Take on Flipout Tournaments
Poker Races is a variation of Flipout tournaments. However, instead of flipping to reach the payout stages, players pay an entry fee to receive five AI-controlled players. These virtual players participate in a simulated multi-table tournament. The process is depicted with cartoon-style graphics showing how your players progress.
Key hands are highlighted by the system, and an intuitive interface displays average stacks, the number of players remaining until payouts, and your players' current standings.
The tournament is fully automated until the payout stage. If one of your players makes it into the money (ITM), you can take over and play from that point forward. However, this is optional—you may also let the AI play the remaining hands. If multiple players make it into the money, you'll earn extra rewards, and their stacks are combined.
Bounty Hunter – A Game of Pure Luck
Bounty Hunter is the other new game that offers fast-paced excitement but eliminates poker skills entirely. In this format, 110,000 virtual entrants participate, and players can bet on which competitor they believe will perform best.
The tournament outcome is predetermined, so once the betting phase concludes, you can instantly see how your selected player performed. Alternatively, for those who enjoy suspense, there's an option to follow the tournament's progress in real time.
The game is entirely bounty-based, with no traditional prize pool. Each time your virtual player eliminates another, they earn a bounty and increase their own bounty value.
Conclusion
Both games are designed to target thrill-seekers and gambling enthusiasts who might not be deeply interested in poker. According to WPN, these formats aim to attract new players who may eventually develop an interest in classic poker. However, some critics argue that these innovations could reduce the number of recreational players participating in traditional poker games.
Both games were developed by i3Soft. If they perform well on ACR Poker, they may be rolled out across the entire WPN network.
